First, purification and detachment of the soul from vices, passions and worldly delusions, and enlightening it with the light of truth; second, ascent of the soul through the visible to the invisible, intelligible and hidden; third, direct closest union with God — communion, contemplation in ecstasy, and detachment from everything comprehensible.
