Dualism
Definition
The pessimistic solution positing an independent, self-subsistent principle of evil co-eternal with the good (Zoroaster, Gnosticism, Manichaeism). It fails to explain evil’s origin, is rationally incoherent (two mutually limiting absolutes) and destroys the goodness of creation and the possibility of union between God and the world.
