Church Seizures
Definition
The Union of Galicia was ‘abolished’ at the Lviv council of 8 March 1946, with about 3,000 parishes joining the Russian Church; the Uniates who refused were persecuted by the Soviet state, and in 1990 the Uniate Church ‘fully restored its structure’ and seized Orthodox churches.
