Reconciliation With Semi-Arians 362
Definition
The Semi-Arian formula ‘the Son is like the Father’ (later, ‘like the Father in all things’), forbidden at Sirmium (357) but permitted in a weakened form at Constantinople (360); Athanasius argued that ‘in all things’ must include ‘in essence,’ making it practically equivalent to homoousios.
