Psychopathology Theory

Definition

A conventional ethnographic designation for the diseased condition of the future shaman before initiation — ranging from mild somnambulism to dramatic seizures, long sleep, loss of bodily and conscious control, abnormal strength, and dreams of spirits; its severity depends on the initiate’s resistance to the will of the spirits.
