Aristotelian Logic
Definition
Following Aristotle’s distinction of first (private) and second (common) essence: nature/essence expresses the common character of a thing, while hypostasis (also called person/πρόσωπον, individual/ἄτομον, subject/ὑποκείμενον) underscores its unique qualities and renders nature a concrete being.
